Adjuster Dog has informed us that she wishes to resume her relatively "normal" lifestyle off the grid. She finds posing for photo ops taxing, not to mention time-consuming. The paparazzi are relentless and she finds their opportunistic behaviors obscene.
On a positive note, she is enjoying the snow immensely! She hops around in it like a bunny, burrows through it like a dachshund, does her business on top of it (don't eat yellow snow), and is loving tearing around the back yard without a leash.
Phil and Anne are also glad to be home; we'll see where the next adventure takes us. Until then ....

POP
Amarillo, TX ... Raton, NM ... Trinidad, CO ... all POP for Adjuster Dog (also her first time in NM). Twas a long, uneventful driving day (obviously that's a good thing) and we're ready to be done!
My hair is absolutely out of control! It's gotten crazy with all of the TX wind that we've been dealing with for the past couple of weeks. Hey you Texans ... does it ever NOT blow there? Oh ... one cool thing did come about, we didn't change time zones. We're still on TX time which happens to be MDT so Adjuster Dog (and the old folks) do not need to get used to the change.
I (Phil) talked with several of our companies this morning, everyone likes the looks of the storms over the weekend, but alas, no claims forthcoming as of yet; still hopeful however! Spring is springing and will bring forth pest and petulance (remember no one gets hurt, just covered damages).
Again, we're parked at a Walmart so heading inside to find something for dinner (scared). Wish us luck!

Sunday
Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to church we go ... gone ... went. The Nigerian priest sounded EXACTLY like Fr. James (translation: we didn't understand the homily). He was very friendly and on our way out of church he busted Phil for not standing up to be introduced as a "visitor". He looked like Fr. James but his homily (in length only) was more similar to Fr. Greg. Bless our hearts!
Today's plan has changed so many times we lost count. We hoped to leave early and catch a noon Mass in Lubbock, TX then head on to Amarillo. Oops ... forgot that daylight savings change. We attended mass at St. Ann's in Colorado City then went back to pack up the unit. All said and done we were already 4 hours behind schedule.
Within minutes on the highway we figured out that the wind gusts were dangerously high. We limped along at 55 mph and gave up in Lubbock for the day; some gusts were 45-55 mph. Landed safely in a Walmart parking lot; will find food and try again tomorrow.
Adjuster Dog's POP was Post, TX. I have no data to provide other than they have one gas station. Her highness has nothing to report due to the extremely short travel day.
Philoberto is checking in with staffing companies in the morning; lots of "good" weather all along the gulf coast, wind, heavy rainstorms, hail, etc!
This is a random picture of Irish cheese that we purchased in Costco; Irish Beer, Irish Cheddar and we can't remember the 3rd but it was Irish. Are ya'll getting ready for St. Patty's Day? Wonder what we'll do without the Konopkas to entertain us?

West Texas
"Hello Mr. Davey, ya'll enjoin' your stay in West Texas?" This is the greeting Mr. Davey gets each time he drives through the State Park check point. There are three campgrounds in this park situated on a lake, and she recognizes him each time. How can that be? It's Spring Break in these parts and of all the people, she remembers his name. Hmmmm, could it be that at most, there are only 10 other sites occupied by campers? Yep! The TX drought has taken its toll in the area and what was once a very cool lake is now so low boats can not even launch. Wow, didn't mean to be such a downer.
We did indeed travel to the 55th Annual Rattle Snake Roundup; been there, got the shirt, done that. This is how we know we are in TX (pic taken whilst entering the roundup). I know, it's not a great picture but we saw several guys carrying high powered rifles.
Philoberto (wearing his Sweetwater Rattle Snake T-shirt) made us some jalapenos, stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon thingy's ... they were delicious! We happened to have all the ingredients so it was a fantastic snack.
Yesterday we popped into a Mexican restaurant for our obligatory Friday fast knowing that cheese enchiladas were their specialty. Philoberto ordered local cerveza and I was compelled to order a margarita. What I received was a Wineareta because the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license. It was good; too salty, but good.
Adjuster Dog isn't terribly fond of this campground ... she can't go three feet without getting a few stickers in her adjuster paws. With that said, we think we'll pack up and continue to head North tomorrow.
We're watching storms in OK & Northern TX develop right now ... maybe we'll get "the" call?

Back to Civilization ... Almost
Whew! That was a difficult 20+ hours with no cell service yesterday. I think we would have been OK without data but no cell was over the top. The Lost Maples State Park (where we stayed) is famous for their Spring/Fall foliage; people did not mention that you are so far removed from civilization that cell service is impossible! That said, we departed a day early and continued our trip North.
We drove through a part of TX that we never knew existed; Exotic Animal Ranches. As we meandered through West Texas we wondered why the ranches had so many different gates (many were numbered) and why the fences were so high. Eventually we figured out that they were Exotic Animal Hunts; NOT ranches! This is huge business in West TX; we had no idea! Got to see lots and lots of normal wild life and some critters that we couldn't identify.
Adjuster Dog's POP (point of potty) today was San Angelo, TX. Apparently the town was formed after the civil war calmed down and the Calvary left the area. It was considered a "healthy spot" during the Tuberculosis outbreak because of its mild climate. There ya go.
Below is a picture of her highness in her new portable, orthopedic bed which happens to fit between the driver/passenger chairs. Philoberto wants everyone to know that the bed was on sale for $9.99; we can't remember what town. She likes hanging out up front rather than doing the Rosa Parks thing.
Tomorrow we're heading in to Sweetwater, TX for the 55th annual Rattle Snake Roundup. We have no idea what to expect but by golly, we're headed to town. Details to follow ....

Hurry Up!
We landed in a spot with NO CELL SERVICE so we'll be quick! Drove down to the State Park HQ where they have Wi-Fi.
1. Adjuster Dog did her business in Pleasanton, TX today. This is a first for her; Phil insists on tracking her points of potty.
2. Had a perfect campfire last night and a couple from two units down came to join in the festivities. What a hoot, two Canadians who are in TX for a couple more weeks until their mandatory evacuation. Apparently, after 182 days in the USA, "we" begin taxing their income so Canadians plan their trips to the day!
3. Heading to the Abilene, TX area tomorrow (we're kind of traumatized with no cell service). From there we'll continue to head North, also intentionally missing the CO snowstorm this weekend.

Dirty Girl
Today was RV maintenance day; I spruced up the inside while Philoberto work on the outside. Adjuster Dog doesn't care for the vacuum so she requested to assist with the outside chores. Fine & good with me! I checked on her after about 30 minutes to find her rolling in the nasty, dirty dirt; she was acting like a dog and I was so embarrassed!
Couldn't catch a photo of her rolling in the dirty dirt so you'll have to trust that she did. THEREFORE, she received her first ever "dry" bath. Philoberto said it smelled really good, like baby power; her coat is shinier and healthier-looking. THEREFORE, she is once again welcome in the casa.
Off to Alice ... Peace & Love & Pray for storms!

We found a Walgreens in Alice, TX (it's the first time Adjuster Dog has been to Alice, TX) so we'll day-trip there this afternoon. I believe it boasts 19,000 residents so we'll pick up scripts then tour the hood (should take less than 5 minutes). You never know what you'll find in these tiny South Texas towns; most have drive through convenience stores so it's our little slice of Mexico right here.

Office Day
Crappy weather = big office day!
We both accomplished a lot while escaping the outside elements. Even though she is low to the ground, it's almost too windy for Adjuster Dog to go potty outside.
I finally got my TX Adjuster License paperwork sent off in the mail (I've been holding a temporary license since the October training). Twas the fingerprinting drama that was holding it all up but now we should be good to go. This license is good for 2 years and when we get close to 2014 we'll decide if I'll do the work to keep it. If not (as I suspect) we'll just use Phil's license and I'll be his trustworthy assistant. Philoberto is now licensed in TX & FL, he's looking into licensing in other states as well.
Oh, Philoberto reported this morning that our space was invaded by critters during the night. Apparently he heard the commotion, but Adjuster Dog failed to protect us (I didn't hear it either). We can't figure out what kind of critter attacked the premises but it left a big mess at the front door.

I don't know if it's right or not, but we just returned from a day-trip to Corpus Christi to find 96 degrees at the unit. Between that and the 60 mph wind gusts, we're feeling mighty tired and have developed a powerful thirst.
First stop this morning was the much anticipated fingerprinting appointment. A few months ago the finger-printer-lady said that my prints are so lousy I could probably get away with bank robbery. Turns out I'm not so special after all and the FBI now has my prints on file. I've already returned the mask and gun.
Adjuster dog experienced a couple of "firsts" today:
While on a walk this morning she encountered a herd of deer. It was entertaining because as usual she was thrilled and terrified at the same time.
Adjuster Dog braved the open seas on her first boat ride. Well, it was a ferry ride, and not on the open seas, and lasted all of five minutes but she liked it. Except for the dog eating sea birds that were cruising the deck looking for small dogs; they were scary.
Lunch was a top drawer shrimp po boy sand, crispy shrimp, toasted hoagie, fresh tomato and lettuce and onion rings. Phil also splurged on a cup of gumbo that really was over the top (he said).
No catastrophe on the horizon so we'll likely head North soon. Peace & love and pray for storms ya'll!

What do Indepence Day and Ducks Have In Common?
Seem to be on a roll with Texas trivia so I'll share this last tidbit. Did you know that Texas was actually a country for a few years? It was called The Republic of Texas and today Texans celebrate Independence Day.
Texas Independence Day is the celebration of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836. With this document, settlers in Mexican Texas officially broke from Mexico, creating the Republic of Texas.[1] Texas Independence Day is an official holiday in the state of Texas.[2]
The unit is currently sitting at 115 ft. above sea level and we are enjoying 73 degrees outside. This is the first day that we have not run the heater inside the unit and we're thrilled with the propane $$ savings!
Until she found the ducks, Adjuster Dog had a very uneventful day ... eat, sleep, eat, sleep, woof, sleep, woof, woof, woof. This is Sadie driving down in highway ... she's so dialed in to the world! Just noticed that this shot makes the 10 month old Dachshund look older than she is (not nice).
The other campers in the park were very entertained watching Sadie chased the stupid ducks around the camp ground. "Someone" was walking her on the leash, then "someone" lost control of the leash, then "someone" had to run through several campsites trying to corral the Dachshund. Times were pretty crazy so "someone" couldn't capture a picture of the event so this is the best we can do. These are ugly ducks; no wonder she was chasing them!
Very ugly ducks! And "someone" was me (Phil), can't believe a 9.4# dog could break free and chase ugly ducks. Every time she got close to one it would stop and turn and she would put it in reverse and back peddle (not so stupid after all). Corpus on Monday, meet with the people that will be able to electronically fingerprint Anne and get a print they can use to tell them that she is not the criminal that they must think she is. 2% of the US population have prints that can not be captured and I am proud to be married to one of the 2%. Results to follow.

Who knew?
- Texas Hill Country Wineries claim to have one of the largest winery tours in the USA; second only to Napa Valley in CA. Today we popped into just two of the thirty wineries in the area and found them to be absolutely delightful!
- El Paso, TX is closer to California than it is to Dallas, TX. Dallas, TX is also closer to Chicago than it is to El Paso, TX. It's a big state and they're proud of it!
- Admiral Chester W. Nimitz (Nimitz is a class of carriers run by nuclear power) is from Fredericksburg, TX. Besides being the main hub for most of the wineries, Frederiskburg is home to the Admiral Nimitz Museum.
This is the test part ... of the three bullets listed above can you guess who is most interested in which area? The participants are listed alphabetically: Adjuster Dog, Anne, Philoberto. The categories are: Wine, Big TX trivia, Stupid boring Nimitz museum trivia.
Whomever answers this portion of the test correctly will receive an exclusive, private interview with Adjuster Dog. She is learning to "speak" and be "quiet" in preparation for the upcoming interview.
We just learned that Farmers deployed adjusters to San Antonio and Houston last week for wind and hail damage. We need some more of that so please pray for storms (and of course that no one is hurt).
